The red-footed falcon has been chosen by SOS/BirdLife Slovakia as Bird of the Year 2024 to raise awareness about the importance of its protection. These falcons travel over 7,000 kilometers from Africa to their breeding grounds—facing many dangers along the way.
Once they arrive, they find only what we have prepared for them.
That’s why, through the LIFE 4 STEPPE BIRDS project, we’re producing and installing 800 nest boxes for this species. Some have already been set up, so the falcons can expect a surprise upon arrival—and hopefully move in soon.
