PROJEKT: Restoration of habitats for root vole *Microtus oeconomus mehelyi

And although he can defend his territory from other voles, he can no longer protect the entire locality on his own. So we decided to help him.

On the borders of ÚEV Čiližské močiare, the home to a large population of the Pannonian root vole, we planted a tree line of hawthorns, oaks and alders and completed it with an agate stakes. In this way, we have highlighted the boundary of the wetland adjacent to the field, so the wetland will not be plowed during field work. In addition, the tree line will bring a refuge for insects, birds and will help biodiversity of agricultural fields.

The planting was carried out as part of the Microtus II project in cooperation with the hunters from the local hunting association.
