PROJEKT: Restoration and management of Danube floodplain habitats

We have known about the beauty and value of the Danube floodplains for a long time, and that is why we protect it. At the same time, we consider it important to inform the visitors of these localities about the protected areas along the Danube, their inhabitants, current threats and conservation efforts to improve the situation. Currently, as part of the LIFE project Restoration and management of Danube floodplain habitats, we installed 9 new information boards at strategic locations within the Dunajské kriviny, Bodíky, Veľkolelsky and Apálsky ostrov islands. If you ever visit these places, please read the richly illustrated boards informing about the water regime of Danube side arms, the importance of simulated floods for amphibians and fish, the effect of grazing on pollinators, sensitive forest management and about the pollard willows.
