This weekend, we were once again restoring grazing at Drieňové in the Cerová vrchovina. In cooperation with a local farmer, staff from the Cerová vrchovina Protected Landscape Area, and volunteers, we cleared an overgrown, inaccessible pasture near the village of Petrovce, removing invasive shrubs and black locust trees. Our efforts aimed not only to restore the dry grassland-herb habitats, which are under protection, but also to create a passage to a higher-elevation pasture. This allows the sheep to access the pasture more frequently, and the farmer can better manage it thanks to improved access. Helping farmers = helping biodiversity.
