In the Site of Community Importance Fabiánka, in collaboration with the local farmer cooperative, we restored over 55 hectares of habitats consisting of dry grassland steppe vegetation, classified as habitats of Community importance. In this karst region, the restoration involved the removal of expansive volunteer woody species and native tree species were preserved. In some areas, by leaving a large number of solitary trees, we created wood pasture landscape’s character.
We also reintroduced grazing by goats, sheep, and cattle. All actions resulted in a system of pastures and wood pastures of various sizes interconnected by corridors. These corridors were widened through clearing to enhance the protection of livestock from predators.
