PROJEKT: Developing best practices in butterfly conservation in Central and Eastern Europe

Most species of butterflies, as well as other pollinators, are unable to survive for long periods in small isolated habitats that become overgrown with woody vegetation that prevents access to light. Today, such sites, once densely populated by butterfly species, are fragmented and reduced to the point that rare species are disappearing from them. Therefore, for many species in the Beckovské Skallice area, clearing overgrown pastures from woody vegetation, acacias and pine trees is an excellent step to save their populations. In 2022, we managed to clear up to 8 hectares of suitable habitat at this site.
