A website that promotes farmers who manage their land in an environmentally friendly way and connects them with buyers of their products is almost finished. The site, called Krajina živá, will be launched soon, and farmers who practice extensive grazing—keeping fewer animals or grazing over large areas—will be able to join gradually. In this way, they contribute to the biodiversity of the agricultural landscape.
The website is not new; it has been operating for quite some time and is widely used among livestock farmers.
However, it has received a new, more modern look, and we are also updating some of the information on it. These updates and the management of the website are being carried out thanks to the LIFE Subpannonic project.
Agricultural land—our fields and pastures—makes up as much as 51% of Slovakia’s total area. That is why it is very important how we manage it, so that we can preserve the health of the soil and nature for future generations and continue to produce high-quality, healthy food with respect for the environment. This is what Krajina živá is all about.
