The management carried out on the site of occurrence of the clouded Apollo (Parnassius mnemosyne) must also be very careful. In order to minimise damage to the laid eggs of the Apollo, the areas intended to be mown and cleared have been precisely defined on the basis of monitoring data regarding the presence of Apollo’s host plant, Corydalis. The monitoring was carried out in early spring at the time of Corydalis vegetation. At this site in the area of European importance Holubyho kopanice, the management is made more difficult by the occurrence of the large copper (Lycaena dispar) and the Jersey tiger (Callimorpha quadripunctaria), each of which has different requirements, host plants and we want to accommodate them all. We really have to proceed slowly, working by hand, at different times and in small areas. But it will definitely be worth it!
