In sunny morning on\u00a025th<\/sup>\u00a0October 2016<\/strong>, we are all meeting up at the Lower Rya Island in\u00a0The Centre of Environmental Education of Slovak Environmental Agency<\/strong>, surrounded by\u00a0SPA Ostrovn\u00e9 l\u00faky<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

When the last people of our group arrived, we are starting our never-ending journey to the\u00a0NP Hortob\u00e1gy in Hungary<\/strong>. NP Hortob\u00e1gy is one of the biggest\u00a0grassland steppes – puszta<\/strong>, assigned in the list of world natural heritage\u00a0UNESCO<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

Afte the lunch, we visited the Hortobagy town and the Informational centre of NP Hortob\u00e1gy, as well as rehabilitation station for injured birds. Among other birds of prey, we could see also\u00a0White-tailed Eagle<\/strong>\u00a0(Haliaeetus albicilla<\/em>)\u00a0<\/strong>and also several individuals of\u00a0White stork (Ciconia ciconia).<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\"\"\r\n

\"\"In the evening time, we went to observe arrival of\u00a0Common cranes (Grus grus<\/em>)<\/strong>\u00a0at the lake\u00a0Fert\u0151-laposi-t\u00f3<\/strong>, which is their important stop on the\u00a0migratory journey in the Central Europe<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

Afterwards, we continue back to Hortob\u00e1gy, where the member of NGO\u00a0Hortob\u00e1gyi Nonprofit Kft. D\u00e1niel Balla\u00a0<\/strong>presented about their\u00a0experience with management of salty marshes and lowland grasslands in NP Hortob\u00e1gy.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n \r\n

\"\"The next day was dedicated to farming in NP Hortob\u00e1gy. We visited the farm\u00a0H\u00e1rmaspuszta,\u00a0<\/strong>where we saw grazing of puszta by\u00a0water buffalos (Bulbalus bulbalis<\/em>).<\/strong>\u00a0It is an unique management tool which is used in case of grassland steppes and water buffalos in given climatic environment.<\/p>\r\n

From there, we continued to the farm\u00a0Kungy\u00f6rgy<\/strong>, which is used for breeding of native hungarian cattle\u00a0sz\u00fcrke marha (hungarian steppe cattle)<\/strong>. The country of hungarian puszta in this area is shaped by typical houses with reed roofs and rocker wells –\u00a0g\u00e9mesk\u00fat\u00a0<\/strong>which is also used as a drinker for animals.<\/p>\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n

\"\"<\/p>\r\n

Afterward, we visited 300 years old horse-breeding farm in the\u00a0M\u00e1tai M\u00e9nes village\u00a0<\/strong>situated on the north side of the\u00a0Hortob\u00e1gy municipality.\u00a0<\/strong>They are breeding here the\u00a0studs,<\/strong>\u00a0which are contributing to positive management of protected grassland ecosystems by grazing.<\/p>\r\n

\"\"On our journey, we cannot miss the gist of the matter, visit of the ecocentre\u00a0Tisza- tavi \u00d6kocentrum\u00a0<\/strong>inPoroszl\u00f3\u00a0<\/strong>municipality, where every member of our group found its interest. Except of external exhibition of animals living in Hungary, you could also see the\u00a0biggest European set of fresh-water aquariums<\/strong>with local fish, amphibian and reptile species including\u00a0Beluga sturgeon (Huso huso<\/em>)<\/strong>\u00a0which is now an extinct spesies in the Danube river.<\/p>\r\n\"\"\"\" \"\" \"\"\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n

In the afternoon, we left lovely Poroszl\u00f3 municipality and full of experience started our journey back to Slovakia.\u00a0The Hortobagyi National Park spreads over an extensive area and can not be fully known in just 2 days. It is a place where you will discover something new and previously unknown every time and you will always have the desire to come back.<\/p>\r\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
