[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The <\/span>ZooLab team from the Plant Science and Biodiversity Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences<\/a><\/b> has started <\/span>eDNA (environmental DNA) sampling<\/b> at our site in <\/span>\u010cili\u017esk\u00e9 mo\u010diare<\/b>. This marks an exciting step in our ongoing efforts to monitor impact of our measures aimed to boost wetland biodiversity.<\/span>\r\n\r\neDNA <\/span>metabarcoding<\/b> is a cutting-edge technique that allows scientists to detect a wide range of species \u2014 from tiny aquatic organisms to larger mammals \u2014 simply by analyzing genetic traces they leave behind in water or soil. It\u2019s <\/span>non-invasive<\/b>, <\/span>cost-effective<\/b>, and incredibly <\/span>sensitive<\/b>, making it possible to uncover hidden biodiversity that traditional monitoring might miss.<\/span>\r\n\r\nThis sampling comes just in time, as <\/span>livestock will arrive soon <\/b>at the site to help <\/span>suppress invasive alien species (IAS)<\/b> and <\/span>prevent the wetland from grounding (accumulating of biomass)<\/b>.
