[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Field monitoring of the Pannonian root vole population brings new information.\r\n\r\nThe best way to see the real impact of project activities is to directly observe the state of the target species population. Therefore, zoologists from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Comenius University visit project sites several times a year and perform regular monitoring of the Pannonian root vole. Current knowledge from the field will help us in the actual implementation of the project. At the same time, they will provide important information for scientists, not only from Slovakia but also from around the world.\r\n\r\nThis year\u2019s autumn monitoring has yielded gratifying results. We found that the number of voles in the locality near the village of \u010cili\u017esk\u00e1 Radva\u0148 increased compared to previous years. The \u010cili\u017esk\u00e1 Radva\u0148 locality is one of the most important localities in Slovakia. The increase in population was most likely due to the fact that we managed to increase the water level in one drainage channel and we used it to flood the landscape. We have thus helped to develop the wetland, which is the most ideal environment for the Pannonian root voles.\r\n\r\nAlthough we are very pleased with the results of the monitoring, we must not forget the population dynamics. The number of voles can change over the years, so it is sometimes higher and sometimes low. That is why we will continue the regular monitoring and implement further measures. We believe that thanks to them we will ensure the well-being of voles and increase their number in other places as well.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
