Before the drainage of Rye Island, every centimeter of altitude was of great importance in the region, and these morphological differences were reflected in various names: gy\u0171r, sziget, lapos.<\/div>\r\n<div><\/div>\r\n<div>Local names often point to the predominant plant community (eg F\u0171zes [willows] &#8211; willows, Rakotty\u00e1s [rako\u0165\u0165\u00e1\u0161] &#8211; rakytie, Eger-jel\u0161a, Cs\u00f3v\u00e1nyos [\u010d\u00f3v\u00e1\u0148o\u0161] &#8211; P\u0159h\u013eavie).<\/div>\r\n<div><\/div>\r\n<div>Today, such wetland habitats are becoming increasingly scarce in the country, giving way mainly to the pressure of intensive agriculture, and with them the interesting and rare fauna and flora is being lost.<\/div>\r\n<div><\/div>\r\n<div>Our goal was to restore this vanishing habitat in Ostrovn\u00e9 l\u00faky. A year after the excavation work, the new wetlands are full of life. In addition to frogs and dragonflies, aquatic invertebrates, including three species of Ochthebius, began to colonize them: minimus, bernhardi and pusillus.
