Site Importance<\/strong><\/h3>\r\nThe Site of Community Importance, Tureck\u00fd vrch, lies on the southeast slopes of Tureck\u00fd vrch, between Nov\u00e9 Mesto nad V\u00e1hom and Tren\u010dianske Bohuslavice. The area is designated and protected to ensure the favorable condition of dry grassland habitats of Community interest, covering a total area of 32.03 hectares. Pastures with semi-natural dry grasslands and scrubland facies on calcareous substrates and Sub-Pannonic steppic grasslands hold particular importance in the area. Rare plants found here include white dittany (Dictamnus albus<\/em>), flax (Linum hirsutum<\/em>), bee orchid (Ophrys apifera), military orchid (Orchis militaris<\/em>), lady orchid (O. purpurea<\/em>), and pale orchid (O. pallens<\/em>). The mosaic of grasslands and shrubs hosts several butterfly species, including the protected eastern eggar (Eriogaster catax<\/em>) and the Jersey Tiger (Callimorpha quadripunctaria<\/em>). Additionally, in Tureck\u00fd vrch are also present habitats of Pannonian woods with downy oaks, lime\u2013maple forests of slopes, screes and ravines. Mature or decaying trees and deadwood in pastures and open forests are habitats for species such as the stag beetle (Lucanus cervus<\/em>). The Site of Community Importance also overlaps with the natural reserve Tureck\u00fd vrch. Historically, this area was used for grazing. After 1950, grazing was abandoned, and in the following decades, the area began to be overgrown with shrubs and invasive species. Restoration of Traditional Grazing<\/h3>\r\nA significant activity of LIFE SUB-PANNONIC project, aimed at improving the favorable condition of dry grassland vegetation, is the restoration of traditional grazing in the southern part of Tureck\u00fd vrch. The restoration of traditional grazing helps these habitats as well as plant and animal species strongly tied to non-forest environments. However, the abandonment of grazing in the past led to the overgrowth of the area with shrubs, posing a threat to the existence of these habitats and species.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Collaborating with a local farmer, we have built fences and reintroduced grazing with goats.
