In august, we borrowed a Microtus minibus from our Hungarian partner Pisztráng Kör. The minibus is an outdoor mobile laboratory for all ages. The van is equipped with all necessary tool to be used by all curious explorer for research of different biotopes and its residents.
We brought the minibus to the garden of Water museum, Železná studnička and Devínska Nová Ves in Bratislava as well as to the south of Slovakia – Kolárovo, Veľký Lél Island and Center for environmental education Dropie in Zemianska Olča. There was a possibility to learn how to identify organisms of waters, meadows and floodplain forests, explore them under a magnifying glass, experience how to sample them safely and master how they live. Find out to whom the bones in owl pellets belong. Put together wooded puzzle of fascinating Danube species. And speak about everyday problems of Microtus oeconomus mehelyi and how we are helping to bring solutions.
